We came to Berlin, on our way to Lithuania to view the manufacturing process for a new sailplane. The year was 1999 and following the fall of the wall, the reconstruction of East Berlin was in full swing. We overnighted in a new Hilton, in formerly East Berlin across the street from the Gendarmenmarkt, home to two classic churches, the Deutscher Dom (German Dome) and the Französischer Dom (French Dome) as well as the magnificient Konzerthars Berlin (Concert Hall).
